Questions for Oliver Seidenberg

TCB: How old were you when you started tennis and who got you into it?
OS: I started playing tennis at 13. As a huge fan of Boris Becker, I was eager to get to know the sport.

TCB: How did you continue with your tennis?
OS: Since we didn't use to have today's training programs, I started learning by doing. I watched the matches on TV, even at night, and tried to put into practice what I saw. :-)
I was very disciplined and spent every day on the tennis court. Play, play, play, no matter who I played with, as long as I played tennis. I always had the advantage of being physically very fit. Playing handball and soccer provided the basics for excelling in tennis.

TCB: When did you begin teaching tennis?
OS: At age 14 I was sitting in on lessons by my club coach at the time. A short while later I started teaching my first kids groups. That's how it evolved. At age 19 I was promoted to Head Coach of my club. Additionally, becoming certified was very important for me. I was able to achieve the highest certification, DTB-A Trainer License.

TCB: When did you open the O.S. Tennis Academy?
OS: The academy started in 1988. I also worked as DTB State Trainer from 1999 until 2012 and traveled on the international Pro-Tour. In 2012 I connected with MTTC Iphitos (Munich), whose Head Pro is a very good friend of mine.

TCB: What made you go into selling real estate?
OS: To expand my horizon, I always worked other jobs parallel to tennis. I was always interested in real estate but never seriously considered it. Ultimately, I made the decision to work in that field.

TCB: How do you manage to work both fields tennis and real estate?
OS: It needs very good time management and I am generally very good at being organized. My very competent coaching team is a great support for me. They say sport connects and I find tennis connects people in many ways. I am a big fan of networking. It was a driving force and helping me all my life.

The company Engel & Völkers claims to be better than other real estate companies without being presumptuous. Engel & Völkers stands for absolute integrity and quality at the highest levels. These are my qualities, too, which I was able to demonstrate quite often. At my time with Sabine Lisicki or later with Annika Beck. Oscar Otte and Andrea Mies are also not unknown players anymore.

TCB: How do you allot your time between Bad Honnef (Schloss Hagerhof) And Munich (MTTC Iphitos)?
OS: Bad Honnef is certainly my focus but I have great affection for the club MTTC Iphitos and its people. It's one of the most terrific clubs in Europe, maybe even in the world. Timewise I am flexible which enables me to be on court in Munich from time to time.

TCB: Have you heard of the pickleball phenomenon? Have you played?
OS: I've heard of it but never played pickleball. I'm sure I would be thrilled to play it.

TCB: Do you still play tennis?
OS: I haven't played tournaments for 20 years although I would probably still play pretty well. After all, my training partners are not too bad. But seriously, my game is still pretty decent but for the longest time, my focus is on improving athletes. That's why my own game is irrelevant.

TCB: What is your racquet of choice?
OS: I am playing with a HEAD Rev Pro and Hawk strings.

TCB: Thank you, Oliver Seidenberg.
