QUESTIONS FOR SUE PENDO

TCB: When did you start playing tennis? Did someone teach you?
SP:
I started playing tennis at 9. I grew up in Arcadia, Ca and took lessons at Lacy Park with Dick Leach. Spent my weekends at Arcadia Park playing with whoever was there.

TCB: Did you play High School? College?
SP:
I played 4 years at Arcadia High School and College at University of Southern California.

TCB: When did you start teaching tennis? Have you been certified for teaching?
SP:
I started teaching the summer after I graduated from USC. It was at a summer club in Greenwich CT. After that summer, I played professionally for about a year and a half. After that I started teaching in the Pasadena area. I am USPTA Elite and USTA High Performance as well as 10 and Under Coach. I try to go to any type of tennis informational training. Knowledge is power….

TCB: Where did you work between college and Riviera CC?
SP:
I have worked at Belle Haven Club in Greenwich Ct, Flint Canyon Tennis Club in La Canada, Annandale Country Club in Pasadena as well as on private courts in the Pasadena area.

TCB: What's your position on pickleball?
SP:
It is the fastest growing sport in the country, I think it is great. I think the two work great together.

TCB: Are your members requesting pickleball?

The members at Braemar are the best! The tennis club just went thru a 4 Million dollar renovation. We have a great outside area to watch tennis and on weekends a bar and food area. It is unbelievable what they have done. Being with ClubCorp, it is nice to have such a rich resource behind you. The wealth of information I have at my fingertips from other Directors, great!

TCB: What are your challenges day in day out?
SP:
Exceeding members' expectations.

SP:
We are always adding to our programing, Pickleball will be an added component. We believe in the USTA Mission to bring more kids into the game. We use Orange and green, 10 and under tennis, to help grow the game.
