As a Tennis Player fully immersed
in the sport of Pickleball, I hesitate to say, " I've transitioned
into Pickleball." That's because I still play and teach
tennis for a living. I strongly recommend not taking an either/or
mentality, for the two sports not only compliment each other
but are played at the same hosting facility and can both be played
and enjoyed regularly. Too often people identify themselves with
a sport, instead of as a sportsperson.
Pickleball, the new kid on the block,
strikes fear only into people who identify themselves as, "
lifer's." Fear because everybody is having so much fun,
laughing so hard, filling up the courts, and giving this new
fun game a try, as opposed to the tennis player who is still
working on the backhand for the last 25 years hoping to go from
a C to a B player in a painfully sadistic mentality. Tennis is
plain ole' hard! |

Pickleball is accepting, non-judgemental,
recreational, easy to learn yet difficult to master, and most
importantly, not tennis. With its own rules, unique scoring,
and kitchen line, tennis players, or in fact people who have
never played tennis before, will find themselves all on the same
learning curve ( you get good fast ) with Pickleball.
Often times couples cannot play
tennis together because their levels are too different, and to
learn tennis can take years, however, in Pickleball, we all start
out the same and can have fun learning together quickly, because
that learning curve is a lot steeper in Pickleball. Have fun!
Give it a try, and laugh.
