MAKING
IT EASIER FOR ORGANIZATIONS TO HIRE PRACTITIONERS FOR THEIR EVENTS
|
Brian Keene is on a mission. The
founder of National Sports M.A.P. saw a friend lose his life
playing basketball in a church gymnasium 19 years ago. He writes
on his web site, "He went up to shoot a 3-pointer, landed
on his feet and then fell backwards. There was no automated external
defibrillator (AED) on church premise. At their youthful age,
Matthews friends were not First Aid or CPR certified but
they did call 911.Emergency services arrived around 10 minutes,
and by then, it was too late." |
He decided to create a large
network of sports medicine service providers and healthcare professionals
that otherwise dont connect anywhere else. "We aim
to provide an easy-to-use scheduling tool for youth and adult
sports, race events, CrossFit competitions, non-profit walk-a-thons
& sports fundraisers alike."
After working as a Student Athletic
Trainer at N.C. State he went into pro sports retail management
and merchandising and eventually he found his passion in customer
service and working with his hands. He went to massage school
to learn the trade and started National Sports Massage and Athletic
Practitioners, LLC in 2009. Their original goal was to make it
easier for organizations to hire practitioners for their sport
events. |

sports massage and AED on-site.

Brian Keene explains. "Our
largest tennis event was the 2012 ITF Senior World Championships
in La Jolla/SD, California. We took on the 7-site 14-day tournament,
1,100 athletes and 78 scheduled practitioners. We took in all
of that information - and wanted to be able to schedule that
many practitioners in advance and ensure the safety of the youth
(and adult) participants, spectators, supporters and volunteers
alike."
National Sports M.A.P. now has
a new website and an easy to use scheduling form. All sports
organizations have to do is enter their event and we'll work
on obtaining the practitioner(s). They'll send an invoice and
only a minimal deposit is required to confirm the practitioners
booking.
Keene adds, "We prefer tennis
because of the great blend of practitioners the athletes need,
primarily Massage Therapist + Athletic Trainer + Automated External
Defibrillator on-site), and the multiple number of sites that
could be covered but are currently not."
LONG-TERM
STRATEGY: Providing no-cost sports medicine services for contracted
events - paid for through long-term sponsorship arrangements.
Brian Keene also created
Smart Bodyworks, LLC., providing sports and events management
services, social media and video marketing. Smart Bodyworks is
tasked with bringing in small and medium sized businesses as
sponsors for local events. Keene says, "Once we have secured
long-term sponsors we can have sponsorhips fund the cost of practitioners
for those events." He calls this value proposition a total
sports management package, split between two companies. |
